Welcome to Sofra.

Sofra began the way most meaningful things do: slowly, and without a name.

For years, we’ve been innkeepers. We’ve made breakfasts in the early morning hours, welcomed guests through our front door, and set the table day after day at our small bed & breakfast in Northern Michigan.

And somewhere along the way, we started to notice something.

It wasn’t just the food people remembered.
It was what happened at the table; around it.

The conversations that stretched longer than expected.
The second (and third) cups of coffee.
The way strangers became familiar by the end of the meal.
The feeling of not needing to rush.

We realized we weren’t just hosting stays, we were creating space for people to gather.

Sofra is a word that speaks to a table set for sharing.
Not just a meal, or a piece of furniture, but a moment.

The kind where bread is passed, stories are told, and no one is in a hurry to leave.

It’s simple, but intentional.
Rooted in hospitality, but open to anyone willing to sit down.

What to Expect:

Through Sofra, we’re creating:

  • Chef residencies at our bed & breakfast in Northern MI

  • Intimate retreats centered around food and gathering

  • Travel experiences that connect people through local tables and traditions

Whether it’s a slow breakfast in Northern Michigan or a shared meal across the world, the heart of it stays the same:

A table.
A few good dishes.
And the kind of connection that lingers.

We believe hospitality isn’t about perfection.

It’s about creating space for people to feel at ease, serving food that invites sharing, not performance, and building moments that people carry with them long after they leave.

Sofra is still growing. Still unfolding.

But if you’ve ever lingered at a table a little longer than expected,
or wished a meal didn’t have to end, come gather with us.
